With parts of the federal government closed for the shut down, DC’s usual go-to spots for art are out of commission. Luckily, there are still plenty of great artists exhibiting at local, privately-owned galleries AND participating in today’s First Friday. From 6–8 p.m., many Dupont galleries, not just the Hillyer, will be open so people can mingle and still get their fill of modern art, American art, portraits and more.
While Spoolia may be biased since we’ve worked with Micheline Klagsbrun, we highly recommend that you visit Studio Gallery (2108 R Street NW) and check out her work. WildFlowers, Micheline’s latest exhibition, is full of bright, punchy colors that will wistfully remind you of summer. So free up your night for some art therapy to help you survive the shut down!
